1. They are my absolute favorite metalcore band of all time. boom.
2. They did not get their name from the Anne Hathaway movie. They got it from the same book that the movie did, except they put their own twist on the meaning. Here is a quote from the lead vocalist Mike Hranica.
"It's the same concept as our lyrics 'emeralds hold no hope' and many others. What we believe it to mean is that possessions don't matter at all and someday everyone will realize that this is true. When standing before God, he won't care about your sweet Prada scarf or Gucci shoes or whatever. It's a Christian reasoning for the name, we didn't name it to attempt at being fashionable or whatever."
Ok so thats all you need to know about TDWP, unless you really like them, then you should listen to more of their music and stuff because the're awesome!!!
The song I want to review is actually my favorite song by them(surprise surprise). Its called Danger: Wildman. Now TDWP has a weird/different artistic approach when it comes to their songs. First of all, their song titles usually have nothing to do with the song, and are usually intended to be comical, i.e., "Goats on a Boat", "Nickels is Money Too", etc. Also, they often hide meaning in their songs, in order to make you think, which is one of the reasons i love TDWP. You have to actually pay attention and listen to understand what the point is that that they are trying to get across. So I think that it is only appropriate that instead of analyzing the song for you, I will simply display the lyrics and the link for you, and let you figure out the meaning(s) for yourself :) I hope you guys enjoy, and feel free to leave comments/suggestions/song/band requests below!
Danger: Wildman, By The Devil Wears Prada
I know a ghost
And when doubted his truth reveals incredible vengeance
Vanity is a sepulcher
Do as you please, shame will follow
Languages rot and insects lose interest;
Mountains of plastic: melting away
As long as these struggles are aimless,
We will all be standing still
When worded correctly, truth is never a cliche;
This is because so many are attached to their deaf ears
Collect the leaves
Count them
Name them
Study each and every single one of them
As long as the struggles are aimless
We will all be standing still
When worded correctly, truth is never a cliche;
This is because so many are attached to their deaf ears
All mistakes can be marked by borders
All of love can be traced to a maker
It seems as if what is most important,
Isn't noticed when forgotten
Do as you please, shame will follow
The sun and the moon:
You'll always take them for granted
What's delicate is lost
As the selfish forget what is sacred,
The humble forget themselves
When worded correctly, truth is never a cliche;
This is because so many are attached to their deaf ears
